How To Reach Shimla

Shimla is well connected by air, rail and road to New Delhi and Chandigarh.

By Flight

The airport is located in jubbarhatti. Air India has a daily flight from New Delhi to Shimla and return(depending on the weather conditions).From airport to IGMC Shimla taxis can be hired taking on an average 1 hour.


By Train

When arriving by train, the trains can be boarded from New Delhi to Kalka. Further a narrow gauge train can be taken from Kalka to Shimla. Toy train is the best mode of transport to explore the treasuries of great Himalayas. Toy train has now come under the world heritage list of UNESCO and stands at fourth rank.

By Bus Or Taxi

Taking a bus ride from New Delhi to Shimla is also easy. There are 12 Volvo AC(HRTC) buses on daily basis and in Addition to that ordinary buses are scheduled every 30 minutes.

Additional option for reaching shimla is via Ambala junction or Chandigarh. Ambala junction is main hub for all the trains coming to north India. From Ambala ,it is a 4 hour journey by road(Bus/Taxi).

Chandigarh is connected by air to all the major cities of the country .Chandigarh to Shimla is 3 hour journey(bus/taxi). From ISBT Shimla or Shimla Railway Station taxis can be hired to reach IGMC Shimla through local operators or OLA Cabs taking half an hour on average.


BY HELITAXI

Helitaxi service is also available from Shimla to Chandigarh and back. The travelling time for one side is approx. 20 minutes. The service is currently available on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Online booking of Heli Taxi service is available on Pawanhans website. www.pawanhans.co.in
